Yoga for scoliosis: strengthen back muscles

≤30 min. Movement research is advancing knowledge balancing muscular actions of para spinal muscles. Scoliosis often leads to unbalanced muscular engagement in support of the spine wherein one side of the spine is stronger than the other. This is quite common yet in some cases the stronger side is so dominant that it may pull the vertebrae out of alignment in favor of the dominant side. In this sequence you can compare the sides in order to understand which is your dominant side, and then learn the poses and actions required to strengthen that side. You'll be strengthening the back in salabhasana, bird dog, and a variation of digasana and work on hip mobility in a seated "Z" side body opener and trikonasana.
